MAYMAY

Angel Pie!

MayMay is ready for her forever home!

Mavis came to us from a small rural shelter in New Mexico. They found themselves overcrowded, in part from recent sudden deportations, and needed to get some dogs out. We offered to take her along with 15 others so sent our Lucky Day van down to pick them up. The shelter called and when they went to spay Mavis they discovered a Mammary Gland tumor. They believed it to be cancerous so asked us if they should just euthanize her. We said, no, please send her to us! We didn’t want her to die not knowing love. Our drivers picked her up the next day and she was terrified, dirty, matted into dreadlocks and shut down. She is a tiny girl, only 8 pounds. A darling Shih Tzu mix, a ShiChi!.

Her foster mom came to pick her up and that little girl lit up for the first time! She was wrapped in a blanket and off she went to start her recovery in a loving home. Her foster mom renamed her MayMay and it stuck. We had a mobile groomer come fix her up and suddenly MayMay turned into a darling white fluffy girl with a pink bow in her hair. With time and patience her foster mom saw her improve... she went from barely moving to going up the stairs by herself, to walking the golf course and has now became a real lap warmer. MayMay loves kids and is happy with other dogs. She loves sunbathing and cuddles and really enjoys her walks. She is done after about 30 minutes. She will need a very loving human and will give all her heart right back!

Once she was feeling better MayMay went to the vet where they confirmed the cancer. We had her spayed and the cancer tumor fully removed. The margins were good and she is currently cancer free but will need blood work every 6 months to be sure it doesn’t return. We think she is about 8 years old and we don’t know how long she will live but we know every day is a blessing with this very special soul. She’s a perky little girl but also loves to relax. There is just something about her that warms your heart when you meet her. She is a gem and a survivor and brings joy to all she meets. We are thrilled we get to be a part in her journey. She is now ready for her forever home, is that with you? MayMay is currently with her foster mom and dad in Aspen. LuckyDayRescue.org to apply
(fosters live in Australia half of the year so cannot keep her)
